Jenni Watson is a Saxophonist, Composer, Arranger & Multi-Instrumentalist.
Bringing her predominantly Classical music background together with a love of all music, and having a dislike of "pigeon-holing", she pushes genre boundaries and is popular for composing in an aesthetic and accessible style.
Her debut album Reflections (2009) performing on S/A/T saxophones with strings & piano, launched her composition career & commission-based work - it was reportedly the first occasion in the Royal Northern College of Music's history that an entire recital was composed by the performer.
Composition & Arranging
Mixed 11-15 piece ensemble
5-9 piece band (jazz, function, jive band, cruise ship)
Solo with Piano
Her skills and experience across these instruments inform her fresh writing style, currently drawing on a wide range of stylistic influences - Classical, Jazz, Funk, Folk and Screen Music.
Studying with Rob Buckland & Andy Scott at the Royal Northern College of Music 2004-2009, she gained a 1st Class BMus Hons & MMus with Distinction, achieving final recital marks within the highest of the college's Woodwind Department history, at 94% & 95% respectively.
She is the Module Leader for Arranging at BIMM London & lectures on the BA & Diploma courses, as well as composing and performing freelance alongside her own creative projects.
